Your Chiefs Future Bets are FINE

Tanner Kern

The Chiefs have consistently been one of the best teams in football in the Patrick Mahomes era. The team has won the AFC West for six straight seasons, two AFC titles, and one Super Bowl championship.

The team was upset by the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game this past season, but they were clearly the better team. Every year, Kansas City receives a lot of money in the NFL future market because they consistently have a chance to win the AFC.

As I am sure you know by now, the Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for a slew of draft picks. Many people were against this decision by the Chiefs, but let me assure you that they won this deal.

Hill wanted close to $30 million per season, and Kansas City did not want to give him more than $20 million. This would have led to a problem within the team if the Chiefs did not ship him to Miami.

Additionally, Kansas City acquired a ton of draft picks to find the next great receiver over the coming seasons. The team received a 2022 first, second, and fourth-round pick. They also collected a 2023 fourth and sixth-round pick.

They will need to capitalize on their first and second-round picks this season, but these draft picks are valuable, especially when Hill was demanding more money. Even without Hill, the team still has JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes Scantling joining the fold.

Mahomes also has Mecole Hardman, who will take a larger role for the team this season. He could become the next Hill in Kansas City with Cheetah in Miami.

Kansas City will be in the same position they were in last season: The AFC West champs. In the playoffs, all bets are off, but your future bets are just fine when it comes to the Chiefs.
