The Jacksonville Jaguars will be one of the worst teams in the NFL again next season, but the future seems bright. They have their franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and a Super Bowl head coach in Doug Pederson. The franchise also owns the first overall pick in the NFL Draft once again.
There are two players who are projected to go to Jacksonville based on various mock drafts. The first is Aiden Hutchinson, an EDGE out of Michigan. He is -250 to be taken first overall, and the next is Evan Neal, an OT out of Alabama who is +1200 to be taken by the Jaguars.
The value is much higher when it comes to Neal at +1200, but does he have a realistic chance of being taken first by Jacksonville?
It may be worth sprinkling a small amount of money on Neal, but the likelihood is slim. Jacksonville had a decent offensive line last year, and the core is still with the franchise. The team finished eighth in Offensive Hog Index and 20th in Offensive Rusher Rating.
This is not a stat to brag about, but the offensive line was better than the defensive front. The team finished 31st in Defensive Rusher Rating and 16th in Defensive Hog Index. They were also atrocious in the secondary, which is partially due to a lack of pressure.
The Jaguars must protect their biggest asset in Lawrence, but their primary need is on defense. This is where Hutchinson, the best defensive end in the country, comes into play. The 21-year-old seems like a generational talent and one that the Jaguars cannot avoid.
