The spread is the great equalizer, and it’s the toughest line to bet in sports. However, if you can pick the correct spread, it creates a vast payout, which is why we bet on sports.
Our stats can be very helpful in picking teams that are poised to cover the spread every Sunday of the season. There are tons of great numbers to bet on this week, so let’s get into the games!
Here are the teams that will cover on Sunday based on the Cold, Hard Football Facts.
Before I start breaking down this game, I just want to say that the Giants are not a good football team.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been horrendous against the spread, and they covered -11.5 versus New York last week. The Giants no longer have an offensive coordinator with Jason Garrett being removed, but he was not the issue.
New York is not good because the interior offensive line cannot protect Daniel Jones. In the NFL, if a team cannot protect, they will not win games.
The Eagles are not that much better in terms of record than the Giants, but they are surging at the right time. Jalen Hurts looks strong, and the defense is stepping up for the Birds.
The Eagles have the best Offensive Hog Index in football. They should control the clock and score more points than New York can match. This will yield a big win and a cover for Philadelphia on Sunday.
The Bengals are back after a big win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders proved on Thanksgiving they are not a pushover by beating the Cowboys.
Cincinnati should have a lot of confidence heading into the Pittsburgh game. They are the tenth-ranked team in the Quality Stats Power Rankings compared to the Steelers at 23.
The only way Pittsburgh will be able to compete is by running the football. However, they will have a hard time against the ninth-ranked Defensive Hog unit in football. The Bengals are also strong against the pass, creating trouble for Ben Roethlisberger.
This spread is a steal at home for the Bengals. I expect Joe Burrow to put on a show!
This may sound crazy to take the Patriots against the spread, but hear me out…
The line is -6.5 instead of -7.5, which is a huge difference. I would likely fade New England at -7.5, but they are too good to pass on at -6.5.
We bet numbers at Cold, Hard Football Facts, and this game is a perfect example. The Patriots are back, and this has been evident with their play lately.
The team is rolling, and Mac Jones looks sensational. They have taken off Jones’ training wheels and let him throw the ball downfield. The combination of all this with a strong defense has made the Patriots a team to beat in the NFL.
This game is going to come down to coaching, and New England is first in the Intelligence Index. This advantage will help Bill Belichick’s squad cover at home.
